This week’s obsession: haim “the wire”

I’ve owned Haim’s 2013 album “Days Are Gone” for at least five years, but after a cursory listen through I concluded that it wasn’t for me (or at least it wasn’t for my c.2015 listening taste). Recently my wife announced in the car that she had discovered a song that she was obsessed with that I would be “forced” to listen to that morning.

What I love most about “The Wire” is the tight weave of the staccato lyrics and the bounce of the kick drum. The song is just fun and adds layers of energy and propulsion without ever losing that clipped separation that draws you in at the beginning.
